Dats Comics is the brainchild of Pat Hordyk and Dave Cornelius, and was started during the strangeness of the Pandemic. Related through marriage, Pat and Dave decided to work together to bring their stories to the world. The partnership started with Pat doing all the art, and Dave attempting to write. As time went on, Dave has given art the "old college try."

In February of 2021 Dave found himself without a job and had a son coming in one month. Not knowing what to do, Dave started writing stories, something that he had done when he was younger. Dave decided the best approach for getting his stories into the world was through comics. Dave floated his ideas to Pat and the two started working together on a project. In March of 2022 Dave found himself with too many stories and not enough cousins to do the drawings, so he decided he needed to learn how to draw. The second the pencil hit the paper, Dave knew…. It was going to be a lot of hard work.

Why comics? As a kid, Dave's dad did not allow him to buy comics, but that didn't stop him from reading them. Everyday on the bus to school, Dave read his friend's comics, usually Punisher and Conan. There was an instant connection. Comics made sense, and when the time arose, Dave spread his wings and flew... or at least took advantage of the opportunities.

Currently Dave has been working through an ongoing all-ages comic called Shadow Tales. Currently he has the first 18 issues mapped out.

In the year 1991 at a private school in winnipeg, Manitoba a challenge was thrown down in front of patrick. A girl in his grade 4 class said she could draw ninja turtles better than him. Having never drawn a whole lot and with his honor on the line. He picked a pencil and his love of drawing was born.

Along his journey Patrick was given an xmen comic and again his path was cosmically shifted into a love for everything comic books.

After high school Patrick went to college for 2d animation. More recently Patrick was approached by Dave to do some drawing for a comic story Dave wanted to make and so the dynamic duo of dat’s comics was born.
